WITHAM VILLA BRITISH RIDING CLUB 2018

Well what a year we have had, it has been a fun, positive and wonderful time for all our riders and horses, with them all exceeding their expectations and the standard of riding has just got better and better with everyone improving on their scores through the year.  It has been wonderful to see all the partnerships getting stronger and developing.

The adult camps have been really well attended and everyone has had a brilliant time and found the two days a really good learning experience, through the year we have had pilates, showjumping and coaching sessions both on and off the horse in all areas or riding.  Lunging demos, small group lessons and video feedback-

We are really loooking forward to developing these in 2017 and look forward to anyone joining us who want to spend time with their horse and improve in all areas of your equestrainism

As a British Riding Club Centre we are affiliated with the British Horse Society, giving non horse owning adults a chance to achieve their own personal goals in the equestrian field. At Witham Villa we offer a supportive, fun and informative club where our aim is to see everyone doing what they enjoy with the backup of a knowledgeable friendly team.

Our Riding Club co-ordinator, Louise Mellor, is a passionate and enthusiastic leader.  PLEASE ASK US FOR INFORMATION

This was a message received from a new member of the Riding Club in December 2015

"I had to dash off after the British Riding Club dressage so didn't get a chance to say in person a BIG thank you to the staff. It is *wonderful* to have the opportunity to dipinto a bit of competition without a horse of my own. Most of all its lovely to have a goal to work towards, get test feedback in such a supportive relaxed atmosphere Thoroughly enjoyed myself today still smiling now "

Weekday competitions start from 9.30am

Weekends are from 1.30

British Horse Society Stage 2 Stable Management Course

Event Date:
Monday, February 5, 2018 - 18:30 to Monday, May 28, 2018 - 21:00

A 15 week course covering the stage 2 Syllabus theory and practical

The BHS Stage Two is suitable for those aged 16 years and over. To enter the exam you will need to have passed your BHS Stage One and BHS Riding and Road Safety Test (if taking the Riding section).

The Horse Knowledge and Care section builds on the knowledge acquired at Stage One as well as including skills and knowledge required for the work environment. This includes: plaiting, trimming, clipping, wound care, worming, grassland management, fittening and lungeing.  The riding is split into two sections; flat and jumping (2’6ft/76cm).

Why should you do the BHS Stage Two?

If you are considering buying a horse, or already own a horse, the care section of this qualification will provide you with vital information to keep your horse healthy.  It is also the second step onto the professional ladder of qualifications.  Many employers will look for this qualification for entry level staff.

What will a person with their BHS Stage Two be able to do in a professional environment?

A person who holds their BHS Stage Two will be able to work under regular but not constant supervision, they will be able to care for stabled and grass-kept horses during all seasons of the year. They will be able to ride an experienced horse or pony in the open as well as in a manège or indoor school.  They will be able to lunge and ride a horse for exercise.
